Discover some amazing temples and the breathtaking surrounding area in Chiang Rai on this private day trip from Chiang Mai. Our private guide will bring you to some notable temples such as Wat Rong Khun – The White Temple, Wat Hyua Pla Kang – Red Chinese Temple, and Wat SeangKaew Photiyarn to see the biggest monk’s monument. Lunch and round-trip hotel transportation is included.

Meet a driver at your hotel in Chiang Mai for 7am departure to Chiang Rai, a 3-hour drive with a break to stretch your legs at a local hot spring.

The first stop of the day is Wat Sang Kaew Photiyarn, where you'll see an enormous monks’ monument and temple built by Kruba Aritachat Arijittto. Next, visit Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple, whose exterior is covered with tiny mirrors that shimmer in the sunlight.

A path leads you inside, passing by a fire where thousands of hands reach out for mercy.  Following your time at Wat Rong Khun, pause for lunch at a local restaurant.

Next, proceed to the Red Temple, Wat Huai Pla Kung, a Chinese temple with 9 floors, each with different images of the Buddha (not wheelchair accessible).

The final stop will be at Wat Rong Sauten to see the blue chapel, then you'll begin the return trip to Chiang Mai, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
